Our aim is always to keep you out of tribunal. But it's not always possible to avoid claims, no matter how robust your processes are. With Employment Practices Liability Insurance, you can protect your business against the costs of defending actions brought by your employees. Both legal costs and awards and settlements are covered.
Our insurance cover is one of the most comprehensive on the market, covering claims for unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, all forms of discrimination (including sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation and pregnancy), breach of contract, and claims arising out of TUPE transfers.
We do not self-insure
We have an arms-length relationship with our insurer, American International Group UK Limited, one of the largest underwriters in the world. LAW has worked with AIG since 2006 and we have built a strong relationship allowing us to protect our clients’ interests in relation to any claim received.
Having EPL Insurance does not mean sacrificing the commercial needs of the business to an overly restrictive process. We are not overly restrictive in our approach to advice or cover. Our lengthy and trusted relationship with AIG allows us to take a practical and pragmatic approach to any claim received.
We represent you
We keep all employment tribunal representation in house. This will normally mean that the lawyer who supported you during the events leading to the claim will also defend you at a tribunal hearing. That way, you can be certain that your expert representative knows the case in as much detail as you do.
Support in higher courts
The insurance covers claim at employment tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the higher courts. LAW will robustly defend any claims brought against you, including appealing adverse decisions to the higher courts where appropriate.
