Slips, Trips & Falls v Manual Handling

Health & Safety

The number one cause of accidents and non-fatal injuries in the workplace remains slips, trips and falls at 31% with manual handling coming a close second at 21%.  With an annual estimated cost to UK employers for time lost of £73 million and £2 billion respectively, taking steps to reduce the risks associated with these types of accidents should remain a priority.

The good news is that these are among some of the easiest workplace hazards to manage.  This month the Health and Safety Team delivered a series of three manual handling workshops aimed at helping attendees understand and apply the HSE manual handling guidance and tools to build their knowledge and competence in carrying out manual handling assessments.  Feedback from delegates has been excellent with many feeling that they now have more confidence to go into their workplace and address manual handling hazards effectively.

If you think up-skilling on manual handling risk assessment would benefit your business contact one of our Health and Safety Managers for more information or to arrange a workshop.
