Airdrie Sheriff Court found the Director of Craig Service and Access (based in Hamilton) Donald Craig guilty of breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act in relation to a tipped MEWP platform vehicle which killed one worker and seriously injured another.
It was found the company knew about existing defects on the MEWP but carried out substandard repairs. For failing to carry out a proper examination of the MEWP and its associated parts the Director was jailed for the maximum of two years. As well as the term of imprisonment the company was also fined a total of £60,000.
