The implementation, from April 2014, of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act has focussed the minds of many organisations on the practical challenges of adapting their HR policies, employment contracts and employee relations culture to the new regime. 

We are organising a series of short seminars which will address some of these key areas of legal risk – with practical advice on how to handle....  

  • the involvement of customers in the recruitment and selection of the workers who will provide their care
  • varying contracts of employment of care staff in order to accommodate the personal requirements of those who are purchasing services
  • transfers of staff between customers and, potentially, between employers as customers ‘shop around’
