Director of Legal Services at LAW, Donald MacKinnon, has made his radio debut on BBC Radio Scotland’s popular Newsdrive show.

Donald was lending his considerable legal brain to the subject of shift workers’ annual leave following the recent Supreme Court judgment in Russell v. Transocean International. The case centred on the issue of whether oil workers with a shift pattern of two weeks onshore, two weeks offshore should consider time spent onshore as contributing to their annual leave entitlement. The Supreme court held that time offshore is a period of rest for the purposes of annual leave under the Working Time Regulations.

Fans of Donald’s work only had to wait a short time before his next media appearance. Never one to rest on his laurels, Donald continued his stellar rise to showbiz fame with an inspired appearance on last Thursday’s Scotland Tonight show on STV to discuss the impact of the recent stormy weather on employment rights.
