HSE provide a useful CoSHH Assessment Tool http://coshh-tool.hse.gov.uk/

When using the simple tool, you will be prompted by questions to enter basic information about the substance you are using (from the MSDS), then directed to the most appropriate generic control guidance for the product. This helps with part of the assessment requirement process.
