Donna Gibb

Head of Client Services | Aberdeen
Having joined the company in 2005, Donna was a Director of Empire prior to the acquisition by LAW in 2018. Donna has helped develop and lead the growth of all service lines and has over 20 years’ experience of advising and guiding clients on all HR and employment law matters. Accustomed to leading the design, development and implementation of appropriate people strategies, policies and procedures within the framework of the relevant business context, she is an experienced Consultant who has applied her 20 years’ experience and knowledge to the design and delivery of our Advisory and Consultancy Services.

Sarah Hyland

Head of HR Consulting | London
Sarah oversees our London team of talented HR Business Partners as well as the development of our wider consulting team. Sarah also looks after her own portfolio of clients. Sarah joined LAW in 2014 and during this time she provided consulting insight and in-sourced support to clients across a range of industries ranging from Financial Services to Advertising through to Property and the 3rd Sector. She possesses a detailed and analytical understanding of Human Resources coupled with a strong ability to assess strategic options while understanding and negotiating commercial outcomes.

Stephanie Robinson

Head of HR Consultancy East | Edinburgh
Stephanie joined LAW in February 2020 after she sold Solve HR, which she founded in 2011, to LAW and the Marlowe Group. Stephanie is a HR professional with a Masters in HR specialising in Employment Law. Stephanie is highly pragmatic with a deep commercial understanding of business needs and is especially proficient at balancing employment legislation and HR best practice to achieve the best client solutions. In nine years of advising over 500 clients she had never lost an employment tribunal claim. Stephanie’s focus is delivering full service HR solutions to clients, from recruitment and on-boarding, to day-to-day comms and employee management, policy and employment contract creation Stephanie remains focused on solving client’s HR problems.

Elaine Kirby

Operations Director | Gateshead
Elaine is our Operations Director, based in our Gateshead office. She has developed long-term partnerships with our clients so we can help them as much as possible. She advises business owners and managers on complex matters, such as employee relations, organisational design, commercial risk management, and strategy development. Elaine is highly experienced in HR, having worked in the retail, construction, service provision and hospitality sectors. In a former life she worked as a senior operations manager at The Co-operative Group, so is particularly at home at developing HR solutions from a client’s perspective. This experience is invaluable when dealing with potentially sensitive scenarios, such as TUPE, redundancy and restructuring. Outside of work, Elaine embraces the great outdoors through family outings, gardening, and walking.

Catherine Wilson

HR Service Manager | Aberdeen
Catherine manages the HR team in Aberdeen. She graduated in Business Studies and after a varied career working in retail, publishing and small business advice, made the decision to move into law. She completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2006 and after a period working as the Employment Specialist for the local CAB, in 2008 joined Empire (acquired by LAW in 2018). Catherine has a wealth of experience working with a wide variety of clients in a range of sectors and advising on the full range of employment law issues. Catherine’s diverse background allows her to think commercially and come up with practical solutions for clients. She has a particular interest in disciplinary, grievance and medical capability cases, and previously trained in mediation.

Jill Hosie

Senior HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Jill began her career using her qualifications in Art & Design to work as a Window Display Artist and Graphic Designer and then somehow moved on to work in HR managerial roles in the private sector for a period of 14 years, and for a short time period of time, ran her own consultancy company before joining Empire HR as an in-house Consultant supporting clients externally. After a career break of 10 years, Jill rejoined the company in her current role in October 2011. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD with lots of commercial experience and in handling complex employment relation issues. Jill carries out a diverse range of activities within the challenges of HR and enjoys the variety of working with both small and larger clients, tailoring the advice to suit. Consultancy projects currently include the in-house support of one of our clients, working in house one day per week for the past four years, during this time becoming part of their in-house team.
Caroline Clements - Law at Work

Caroline Clements

Caroline is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has over 20 years’ experience as a qualified HR and employment law expert. She has extensive experience from working as a recruitment consultant, through to specialist HR roles in organisations as diverse as retail, the BBC and Glasgow School of Art. She has also spent time working for a national HR and employment law provider. Her expertise includes the facilitated delivery of numerous change projects and large scale re-organisations including job evaluation and re-grading for a range of clients. Caroline enjoys working in close partnership with a diverse client base to provide commercially-focused strategic HR support.

Emma Dunning

HR Business Partner | London
Emma joined Nestor as an HR Business Partner and brought with her almost 14 years as an HR practitioner. Emma works closely with clients to understand their challenges and how best LAW can help to develop effective people strategies. Emma has strong business acumen, understands the importance of human capital to any business and works tirelessly to align these assets in developing business strategies with her clients. Prior to joining LAW, Emma gained experience in a variety of sectors including professional services, public sector and FMCG. Emma has a particular interest in Employee Relations and the interpretation of new legislation.

With more than 25 years of experience in employment law and HR consultancy, and with a passion for employee relations, Mary has a wealth of expertise across many industry sectors, including insurance and banking. She graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a PgDip in HR Management and she is a Chartered Member of CIPD. Mary takes a strategic approach to provide solutions; her recent projects include recruitment; employment documentation; job evaluation; managing performance; restructuring; redundancy, disciplinary, grievance, conflict resolution; absence management, pay benchmarking; management training and coaching.

Tracey Burke

Lead HR Business Partner | Edinburgh
Tracey joined the LAW team in February 2020 after the integration of Solve HR into LAW as a Lead Business Partner. Tracey, has worked in HR and recruitment for over 20 years. As well as providing clients with all forms of generalist HR advice and support, Tracey also handles vacancy management, soliciting the best CV’s in the market, interviewing and assessments. Tracey joined the team in May 2013 and was able to translate her large organisational experience to the challenges faced by small and medium sized businesses and Tracey thrives in supporting businesses find appropriate HR and recruitment solutions.

Lilias Bennie

Senior HR Consultant | Glasgow
Lilias moved into consultancy after 20 years working in HR managerial roles in the private sector, including several years in senior HR at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. She’s a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has a paralegal qualification in employment law from the University of Strathclyde, which means she’s ideally placed to handle complex employment relations issues. Lilias enjoys the diverse range of activities working in a consultancy; some of her projects have included recruitment and retention; training & development; coaching; policy development and harmonising terms and conditions of employment.

Charlotte (Charlie) Anderson

HR Business Partner | London
Charlie is an accomplished HR Business Partner with nearly a decade of experience gained during her career with leading FMCG companies and then more latterly with LAW. Charlie works across sectors including creative and media, political, charitable and technology, to name a few. By combining best practice, pragmatism and a commercial focus, Charlie ensures clients get the best possible outcomes. As a senior consultant and HR Business Partner, Charlie has designed and led numerous consulting engagements solving complex organisational, people and performance issues. As a natural strategic thinker, Charlie has extensive experience in employee relations and organisational design, guiding clients on the legal and regulatory aspects of employment practices.

Vicky Johnson

Senior HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Vicky is a Chartered Member of the CIPD with more than 15 years of HR and employment law experience. Vicky has been involved in working within various industries including the oil & gas and construction sectors. Vicky has worked with the Company for the last eleven years and has supported a number of clients through difficult reorganisations, redundancies, disciplinaries and grievance issues, both in an Advisory and consultancy capacity, and has also supported clients onsite on an ongoing basis. She has a proven track record in employment law, interpreting legislation and delivering best practice solutions with commercial awareness to employment issues.

Laura Henderson

A Chartered Member of the CIPD, with a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management, Laura has 15 years’ experience in employment law and HR working with a range of clients in the public and private sector. Laura provides advice on all areas of HR and employment law including commercial solutions to work based problems. Laura enjoys the variety of working in a consultancy role.

Judith Byers

Senior HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Judith graduated from Edinburgh University with a BSc in Social Administration and she is a Chartered Member of CIPD. With more than 25 years of experience in employment law and HR consultancy in the retail and oil and gas industry sectors Judith joined the company 6 years ago. Throughout her career she has covered every aspect of the HR function from recruitment, training, auditing, employee relations, union negotiations, through to strategic policy formulation, compensation and benefits. Judith takes a pragmatic approach to providing solutions; her recent experience has focused on contractual documentation mixed with solving issues around employee relations, grievance and disciplinary problems, as well as company re-structuring and redundancies. Judith also enjoys delivering training and devising bespoke training to address client needs.

Susie Lockhart

Senior Employment Solicitor | Aberdeen
Susie started her career working in finance using her French language skills. She went on to do a law degree and completed her traineeship in a commercial firm working between the Glasgow/ Edinburgh Offices. Having moved to Aberdeen in 2008 she specialised in Employment Law and has worked with a diverse range of clients which has enable her to gain experience in all areas of employment law including TUPE and complex discrimination claims. She enjoys working with clients to find a solution that works for them.

Sallyanne Williamson

Senior HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Sallyanne has over 20 years’ experience working as an HR generalist and has gained her diverse range of experience across various industry sectors. Sallyanne graduated from London South Bank University with a BA honours degree and went on to achieve her post graduate HRM qualification from Robert Gordons University, she has been a chartered member of the CIPD for over 20 years. Sallyanne has been with the Company for over seven years and provides HR solution-based advice to her clients and supports several clients with weekly on site, HR management support. Sallyanne has delivered consultancy support for clients on, harmonising terms and conditions, TUPE consultation, performance management, redundancy, re-organisation, employee relation matters, disciplinary and grievance, HR audits Sallyanne particularly enjoys the close relationship built up with her clients which allows her to tailor her advice to their specific business requirements.

Lynn Lavelle

Lynn Lavelle studied for her LLM in Employment Law and Practice at Robert Gordon University while working full time and is a CIPD Fellow. She has more than 25 years’ experience in employment law and HR; 15 of those years specialising in HR Consultancy supporting organisations across a whole range of sectors. Her experience includes redundancy, TUPE, absence management, disciplinary and grievance procedures, working time, preparing settlement agreements and ACAS early conciliation. Lynn enjoys the variety of work that a consultancy role brings, and was drawn to LAW’s close relationships with our clients as it allows her a deeper understanding of the organisations she partners.

Ellen Lloyd

HR Business Partner | Edinburgh
Ellen is part of the HR team in Edinburgh, having joined the team in June 2019. Ellen has an extensive background in in-house HR management, including a decade as HRBP with a global bank. Ellen is a trusted HR advisor to LAW clients and their management teams, providing advice and guidance on all elements of HR policy and employee relations including; disciplinary, grievance, performance management & absence management.

Louise Irwin

Senior Employment Solicitor | Aberdeen
Louise completed her LLB in Law with Options in Economics and Legal Diploma at Aberdeen University and then later returned to Robert Gordons to complete a Masters in Employment Law with her dissertation focused on IR35. Louise has a particular interest in non-contentious employment law and has a passion for the law relating to employee status. Louise qualified in 2004, and apart from taking a year out to travel to South America, has worked in employment law ever since.

Linda Clarkson

Linda is an Associate Member of the CIPD with a Postgraduate Diploma in HRM and has over 15 years experience in dealing with HR and Employment Law matters in private companies, including spells working in the oil industry. Linda has experience in a wide range of topics including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, consulting in changes to terms and conditions, performance and absence issues. She enjoys the diverse nature of the role and that you never know what each day will bring….

Robyn O'Donoghue

HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Robyn is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, with over 8 years of generalist HR experience. Graduating from the University of Aberdeen with a Masters Degree in Management Studies, and further completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, her technical experience is coupled with a strong academic understanding in HR and Employment Law. With a background in the Hospitality Sector before joining LAW, she has enjoyed diverse exposure to a wide range of HR practices. This has included, but not limited to; disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, TUPE and performance management. Robyn prides herself on being able to balance the necessity of HR with the requirements of a business, to ensure that the advice given is always commercially aware and tailored to each individual client.

Marysia Popow

In her capacity as an HR Advisor, Marysia supports and advises a wide and varied portfolio of clients. Marysia started her career with a leading children’s charity where she gained invaluable experience in the third sector. At LAW, Marysia split her time between one of their largest clients in Financial Services, as well as her wider portfolio. As a passionate HR professional, Marysia has expertise across the full human resources function including, recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee engagement programs.

Louise Harvey

HR Consultant | London
Louise joined LAW in 2019 as they continued to expand their team of HR professionals. Louise joins a dedicated team offering advice and support to a diverse client portfolio. Following her graduation, Louise was successful in joining the People graduate scheme at Tesco PLC. During her 3 years at Tesco, she completed several placements in various HR roles across the business. These included being part of the UK's largest HR transformation programme Change and Insight team; as well as the Finance and Legal business partnering team.

Victoria Palmer

HR Consultant | London
During her degree, Vicky worked as an HR Intern at Oracle Corporation. Throughout her placement she provided administrative support to over 4,500 employees working in the UK, as well as leading and being involved in a number of strategic HR projects. Since graduating in July 2018, Vicky has chose to join LAW to both widen and deepen her range of HR knowledge and experience. She currently provides administrative support and advice to one of our largest clients, as well as advising upon issues across the wider portfolio.

Alina Stoian

HR Consultant | London
Alina joined the team in 2019 and joins a growing team of HR professionals. Alina has been working in the HR field for over 5 years and supports clients across many sectors. Originally from Romania, Alina studied for her BA in Banking & Finance and Foreign Languages, including French and Spanish before moving to the UK. Much of her early career was in the Health Care industry, where she gained a wide range of skills and knowledge - particularly in recruitment, onboarding and pre-employment checks. Alina has also worked as an HR Assistant for one of the biggest Food Manufacturing Companies in the UK, supporting more than 1000 employees. Her role included managing the entire absence process, the employees complete life-cycle as well as leading several projects designed to increase employee retention and wellbeing at work.

Hannah Khan

Hannah joined LAW in 2017 as an HR assistant. As part of a dedicated team, she provides HR support and advice to one of our largest clients. Hannah supports in the provision of a complete outsourced HR service in respect of recruitment, employee relations and performance management. Hannah also advises across a diverse portfolio including media, political, charitable and technology sectors.

Poppy Saccomani

Associate HR Business Partner | London
Poppy is an Associate HR Business Partner at LAW with 20 years’ senior HR experience across companies within professional services, retail and media industries. She brings together her management experience and knowledge of HR for the benefit of LAW's clients. Poppy partners with businesses to work closely with board and management levels, providing practical, pragmatic support and guidance on effective management of people and change. She has a strong focus on business budget, goals and ambitions to enable them to drive people forward. Poppy has extensive experience in creating and sustaining a healthy, engaging and rewarding culture for employees using a range of initiatives and full support for line managers.

Aine O’Donnell

HR Consultant | London
Aine joined LAW in 2019 and spent 3 years gaining her Human Resource Management degree. Alongside her studies, Aine has over 5 years’ experience as an administrative assistant at a large school here in London. Her role involved aspects of both business administration and HR-related tasks. With extensive admin and business operations experience, Aine greatly adds to the operational side of the business whilst she continues to develop and expand her technical HR knowledge. Aine works across the whole client portfolio in support of the wider HR At Work team.

Angela Black

HR Business Partner | Edinburgh
Angela regularly assists in the management of large-scale HR projects, mainly working to a project timeline on the creation of a new HR Service, HR system implementation or TUPE transfer. Angela has worked in both the public and private sector and her career started with the Scottish Prison Service, in various HR Administrative and Project roles. Latterly working with Iron Mountain, a global data management company, as a HR Team Leader within their HR Shared Service Centre. Angela has considerable experience of advising on employee relations issues including, redundancy scenarios, investigations, disciplinaries and grievances and short service dismissals. Angela works quickly and ensures key deliverables are met.

Sam Adams

Assistant Team Leader | Gateshead
Sam holds the Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management and Development, the CIPD Level 7, and has had previous roles in retail management and HR. Her specialist skills are creating and developing bespoke contracts, handbooks and policies, and providing generalist HR advice and guidance. Outside of work Sam loves spending time with family, reading, and watching box sets.

Rosie Kennedy

Team Leader | Gateshead
Rosie joined the Deminos team in 2014 following a previous role in recruitment, and holds the CIPD Certificate in HR Practice. Her strengths include creating and developing bespoke employment contracts, staff handbooks, and implementing HR policies by working with managers to see what suits their organisation best. Over her time with Deminos she has gained experience with a wide range of sectors and complex HR issues. Rosie likes keeping fit and healthy, spending time with family, cooking, and trying to see new places around the world as often as she can.

Ron Smith

HR Advisor | Gateshead
Ron’s experience in HR is second to none, with 35 years’ HR experience at a variety of levels in several sectors, such as health (North East Ambulance Service), education (Newcastle College), and housing (Your Homes Newcastle). Ron’s many strengths include employee and trade union relations, and handling change management. He also has 18 years of experience as a lay member of employment tribunal panels, so knows the process inside out. Ron is also a long-suffering Newcastle United fan, but luckily he has other interests such as his family, golf and travel to take his mind off that.

Louise Foster

HR Advisor | Gateshead
Louise has seven years’ experience in HR, five of which were spent working with a Housing Association. She specialises in employee contracts, handbooks and drafting company policies. Louise is also quite the artist, enjoying drawing, painting and travel.

Lisa Moon

Team Leader | Gateshead
Lisa has seven years’ experience in HR after graduating from the University of Sunderland with first class honours in Business and Human Resource Management. She has worked in both public and private sectors, including roles in the NHS and several HR outsourcing companies. Lisa specialises in employment relations, and works to find solutions to complex HR issues such as redundancy, recruitment and payroll. When not at work, Lisa enjoys travelling and trying different cuisine from around the world. She’s also a big fan of films and box sets.

Jenny Stanley

Team Leader | Gateshead
Jenny has worked for Deminos for six years. Having graduated from Northumbria University and previously worked at Teesside University Students’ Union, she’s advised a range of clients from different sectors and is a specialist when it comes to handling redundancies and complex disciplinary and grievance procedures. Jenny enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and until recently was training for the Great North Run.

Bev Harrison

HR Advisor | Gateshead
Bev graduated from the University of Northumbria with a Higher National Diploma in Business and Finance and Personnel/Resource Management, and also holds the CIPD level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. She has over 23 years management experience, 19 of which were spent in various senior HR roles within the retail sector and most recently working for the NHS. Outside of work Bev loves to spend quality time with her husband Paul and two daughters, Annie and Sophie. She also loves to socialise with friends and family as often as she can and likes to keep (reasonably) fit by attending weekly Body Combat sessions!

Adele graduated from Durham University with a degree in Business Studies, and also holds the CIPD Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. She has six years HR experience, four of which were spent in the manufacturing industry and specialises in employee contracts, employee handbooks and policies. Outside of work Adele enjoys spending time with her little boy and friends and family, going to the gym, and watching a good box set.

Sita Anand

Assistant Team Leader | Gateshead
Sita has 10 years’ experience advising both employers and employees on HR and employment law. Due to her extensive knowledge of the employment tribunal process, she knows what can lead to a potential claim and can help clients avoid becoming involved in a tribunal. She also has the ability to process complex disciplinary cases and grievances. Sita has an interest in interior design, and dreams of building her own house one day. She also loves watching box sets (mainly political thrillers) and spending time with family and friends.

Laura Mackay

Laura studied at Strathclyde Business School where she achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Human Resource Management. In her third year of University, Laura completed an internship and summer placement as a HR and Marketing Assistant with Square Circle HR Ltd. After working in the automotive industry as a HR Assistant for over a year, Laura joined LAW as a HR Advisor to continue her career as a HR professional. Laura continues to build her client portfolio and has experience in a wide variety of employee relations issues. She continues to gain extensive knowledge and experience in the field of HR consultancy.

Courtney Allan

HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Courtney has an MSc in Human Resources Management from Robert Gordon University, following an undergraduate degree in Management with Human Resources. She has more than 5 years’ experience in human resources working within the Oil and Gas industry, her experience includes but not limited to, redundancy, TUPE, absence management, Disciplinary and Grievance matters, as well as being commercially aware. Courtney enjoys the diversity of the work that the LAW provides, and enjoys working with the variety of clients, to understand their organisations to allow her to provide support with all HR related matters.

Matthew Hutchison

HR Consultant | Aberdeen
Matthew completed his MA in Politics and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen. After a year travelling he undertook an MSc in Human Resource Management at the Robert Gordon University before starting at Law At Work. Through his experience advising clients on a range of issues, he has developed an appetite for employee relations. In 2019, Matthew achieved a Masters in Employment Law from the University of Leicester, graduating with Merit.

Tracey Craik

HR Team Administrator East | Edinburgh
Tracey joined the team in summer of 2019, following a long career with one of the largest distribution companies in the UK. Tracey supports the team with all areas of clients service, and is a key factor in our efficient operation and delivery of excellent client experience.

Eilidh McKay

HR Assistant | Gateshead
Eilidh joined Deminos after graduating from the University of Strathclyde in 2018 with a masters degree in Human Resource Management, and holds a Level 7 CIPD accredition. Eilidh is an integral part of the HR team as the first point of contact for all clients and is responsible for the development of Employee Handbooks and Contracts of Employment. In her spare time, Eilidh enjoys spending time with family and friends and walking her dog at the beach.

Chris Heselwood

HR Assistant | Gateshead
Chris joined Deminos in an administration role before rapidly gaining promotion as an HR Assistant, drawing on his six years in the industry. Within HR, Chris specialises in handling redundancies and compiling employee contracts and handbooks. He’s also a self-confessed jack of all trades, with skills ranging from IT to accounting. Chris is something of an action man outside of work, as a keen mountain biker, cricketer, rugby player, golfer, drummer and guitarist. He’s also an expert at – in his own words – “increasing team morale”.
