In-House Training
Our in-house programme complements our range of public courses, seminars and briefings. In-house courses can sometimes be more effective than sending groups of managers to public events, because our in-house courses are designed around clients’ specific policies, procedures, and needs.
They can also be very cost effective. We set out below examples of some of the in-house training we can provide.
People Management Skills
This course meets the needs of newly appointed or inexperienced managers. It is normally presented over several days, and includes role play in a safe environment.
Performance Management
This course can be linked to a new or revised appraisal scheme. While it’s designed with managers’ needs in mind, it can also include a session for all staff to help them get to grips with the ways in which their contribution is measured, and what they can do to meet their objectives.
Managing Absence
This course is aimed primarily at managers, but a session can be built-in for all staff to ensure they understand how your absence management system works, and the impact of poor attendance.
Dealing with Misconduct
Case studies and role plays which enable participants to practice personal skills in a safe environment play a fundamental part in this practical course.
Bullying and Harassment
The courts and tribunals are cracking down on bullying and harassment. A workplace bully can cause untold grief and demoralisation. This course will enable companies to show that they have taken all possible practical steps to prevent bullying and harassment, as well as having robust systems in place to deal with it after the event. We can include an awareness session for all staff, and, if it is to stand up to the legal tests, it is crucial that all staff are trained in what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour at work.
Recruitment and the law
Too many unfair dismissal tribunal cases could have been prevented by effective recruitment. Forcing square pegs into round holes is a recipe for disaster. But even when orgainsations appoint good people, they can fail to induct new recruits into the organisation, and fail to spell out what's expected. This course focuses on the pitfalls to avoid, and how to get the best out of new staff.
Equality In Action
The 2010 Equality Act has brought all discrimination law under one roof, and now treats all forms of discrimination in the same way. This course mixes generic and client-specific content.
Managing Stress At Work
In the last year nearly half a million people suffered work-related stress, anxiety or depression. It was the number one cause of absence from work. This course focuses on the causes, identification and management of stress, and is designed to meet managers’ needs.
Managing Redundancies
In the last three years more than two million workers (around 8% of the workforce) have been made redundant. Not surprisingly many companies have struggled to re-organise and restructure in a safe and legal manner. This course gives directors and senior managers the knowledge and skills they require to run watertight redundancy exercises.
