Cutting sickness absence costs

Our clients report that reducing the costs of staff absence is a major priority in the hostile economic climate. But they also advise that they have difficulty in achieving their goals.

The main concerns include:

Worries about the competence of managers in handling absence review interviews and the dismissal of serial absentees;
Anxiety over the legal risks of tackling absence head-on;
Uncertainty over disability discrimination and how it impacts on management action to control absence;
How best to deal with long term absences – including getting proper medical advice to assist the process of getting valued employees back to work.

This event will cover the law relating to the management of ill-health (and other) absences from work, the rights and obligations of managers when dealing with problem attenders, and the law on disability discrimination.

It will provide participants with the tools to introduce effective and compliant absence reduction initiatives to save you money and establish an attendance culture in your workplace.

This half day workshop is aimed at HR professionals, Senior Managers, Board members and business owners.

Breakfast and networking opportunities will be available 30 minutes before the advertised start times for the session. During this time, there will be an opportunity to meet with a member of our employment law team to discuss issues on an informal basis.

All delegates at this event can book a free 15 minute consultation with one of our legal managers to take place after the seminar on any employment issue. Availability is limited and should be booked in advance by email to Gillian Wilson.

Certificates of Attendance (for CPD purposes) can be issued to delegates on the day, if required. Please let us know that you need a certificate on arrival and we will arrange for it to be issued at the end of the session.
